Well we have got the Santa Fe which to be fair is fab but the even better news is that my Mrs loves it and said why can't she have it and I get another Land Rover (god I love her!!!)
So all being well I will fairly soon be collecting a 2010 D4 HSE in Stornoway with black leather, yippee!!!!!!!!

I was in the same position, torn between a Santa Fe and a D4. My head said a Santa Fe would be the sensible choice but my heart wanted a disco. Just picked up a MY12 GS with the 8sp box with leather and a few other extras. It seems huge, just like the grin on my face

Just do it! I was in a similar quandary when my D2 Td5 started to act its age and cost too much to keep running. I really liked the look of the D4 but the cost was putting me off so I explored the Hyundai and similar options. I too was considering a D4 from a main dealer, but the premium that that would have cost me put me off even though I missed out on the dealer's warranty and half a day at a Land Rover Experience! So... I found the car I wanted (2012MY D4 XS) at a local(ish) dealer who specialises in ex-lease cars and just went for it. It was a silly amount of money but I'm very very impressed by the D4 and am constantly looking for excuses to go for a drive now. Maybe the Hyundai would make more sense economically, but you'll always have that niggle in the back of your mind that the D4 would have been a better bet. And you'd be right.D1 300Tdi - gone
