ride height/jalopy handling
Just got my iid tool today. ..what an amazing bit of kit. Limitless diagnostics. Was wondering if this could contribute to my terrible handling? Seems a good bit of discrepancy. Does anyone know what the heights should be?

If it works in the same way as the Nanocom - and I'd assume it does - this just shows you the height sensor readings (or offsets). You need to measure the height from the wheel centre to the top of the wheel arch to confirm the ride height is correct. The values you're seeing could be perfectly normal for your car.
Don't worry about pulling the fuse and measuring over time - that's to check for leaks. You can just compare your ride heights with the ones in that worksheet.
The IID manual probably gives you a procedure to follow for ride height calibration. And make sure you keep a record of the initial heights before you start changing things... 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

When searching for that I saw a comment that the ride height calibration procedure is well documented in the IID manual so probably worth a check (I don't have an IID, I have the Nanocom).2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

When I did my calibration (the thread in the second link) it did make a difference to the handling so it's definitely worth doing. However, I'm still not convinced my handling is as it should be, even with the tyre pressures perfect.
The only way I guess i'll really know is to drive somebody else's or get them to drive mine for a comparison!

Hopefully it will help with DSC kicking in and out every left hand corner. Discomike popped around yesterday to drop off the iid tool and I noticed his steering was a lot weightier than mine. Mine seems ultra sensitive.3 Flash Indicators

My steering is a little stiff and very sensitive, in that only a tiny movement at the wheel makes quite a large direction change. I'm putting it down to the lower column UJ as my alignment is spot on with new wishbones all round.Freelander SE 2005 Auto.

I had the lower column uj changed just over a year ago. It made a difference initially but it feels strange again. I think a lot of suspension components and airbags are due replacement3 Flash Indicators

I also changed my lower UJ which helped as did the four wheel alignment but i'm still not convinced mine handles right.
If I take my eye off the road for two seconds i'm either on the white line or in the hedge, it doesn't happen with any other vehicle I drive. Almost like I'm constantly needing to adjust the steering wheel, like when I used to drive my dads series 3!

Mine was very wandery and vague, and couldn't keep it in wheel alignment and shredding tyres...
An almost full refurb followed, and it drove a million times better My D3 Build Thread

Front upper arms, front track rods and ends, lower steering column, rear lower arms, hub bushes, rear track rods, ARB links. Anything other than the Rear uppers and front lowers. They were fine back then My D3 Build Thread
