Blanking EGR's

I spoke to Flack about getting my 09 D3 remapped and emulated, but after getting reminded by an ex wife that I had other commitments this month its had to be put on hold!
However, it got me thinking, when I got my D3 it had an engine fault and I was shown the fault on the diagnostic kit they had as an EGR problem. Coming from the D2 world EGR's aren't a problem but with an 09 D3 it apparently is??
Now what I'm thinking is that the garage has just stopped my EGR's from working which in turn stops the engine fault lighting up, but still possibly leaves me with a bill for new EGR's some where down the line.
Now my intension is to get the remap and emulation as soon as possible but should I kick up a stink with the garage and get them to replace the EGR's or should I just leave it seeing as I'm going to get them blanked anyway??
Plus I'm not sure they have done anything wrong? The car had a problem and now it doesn't!
or am I being very naive??
Cheers

Are you saying the garage have applied a software patch to remove the EGRs? If so, are they actually blanked, with proper blanking plates? If the answer to both is the same then all is correct. If they have removed the function, but not blanked them physically, then they need blanking properly.

Emulators allow the valves to appear to be working, but they are still blanked in the same way. Once blanked, you won't need new EGRs.

Thumbs Up

If only it was that easy.. It sounds to me the garage replaced the EGR if you have no MIL

Even had a look in Wiki, What's a MIL??
I'm guessing it's something instrument light?
No trying to sound a fool, but If the engine light is on and it's a EGR fault what way can it be rectified?
Replace EGR's?
Clear the fault and see if it comes back?
Removed the function and clear the fault?
or Remove the function and actually blank the EGR's?

Not that I know much, but that's the only ways I can think of?

If the light is for the EGR then remove EGR's and blank where they were, then emulate them being there and working to fool the ECU so the light stays off.

...or, it could be Mother-in-law. Which is more popular, I'll let you decide... Laughing

These are the options. Naturally, I'd suggest the latter (with emulators optional). Thumbs Up

From what you've said, it sounds likely that the garage have changed the software, but not blanked them (and they would be far from the first to do so Rolling Eyes ).
