Discount at Beadles
Further to previous post of mine re 7th service I actually called in at Beadles and asked re cam belt change and they quoted over £700 just for the change plus another £300 or so for service. I asked about discount but the guy said he was not sure how their marketing people would handle this but he had heard something. I suspect it's not for everyone unless one of the chosen few.

They always price matched when I have used them, so get some cheaper quotes and all should be good. It's worked on servicing and repairs in the past for me.

7th service
Must admit I only hinted at being cheaper elsewhere but the guy on reception seemed pretty much oblivious to any 20 per cent discount. Saving so much at Nene Overlanx seems a no brained. Also tried near by LR indie but still 300 more than Nene. Would prefer to be more local but prices seem really heavy. P
erhaps time to change back to Defender!

Get a written quote / email from nene and show it to them, worth a try.

Speak to Carly on reception, she is switched on, can't imagine who you spoke to unless you were in their Volkswagon dealership

7th service
I presume she is the young lady sitting next to the guy I spoke to on service reception. He genuinely had no idea if the discount of 20 per cent was applicable or not and, even so, the quote of over £1000 for cam belt change plus service seemed over the top. I specifically asked about the discount but no luck. This was Sept. 5th so should have been active according to their ad. Hence the move to Nene.

Well the advert is there and it does state for servicing, so I guess with your other bits you are best elsewhere, a 3rd service and first MOT is £350 which is a good price I think for a main dealer

Reminds me of when I had the 4 wheel alignment done there They priced match a quote I had from another forum member which worked out about £130 cheaper than there original price. Whilst waiting in reception for my car to be brought round I got speaking to a guy with a sport who had just had done the same work as me. I told him to look up the site / sister site, as it was really usefull for info regarding all things Landrover including how to save a few quid. To cut a long story short he went up to the desk to ask for a refund in the diffrence between his full price and mine they then asked me to politely not tell all there customers about price matching.

Do you think it is just for special customers? Should I remove it before any Riff Raff turn up there demanding VAT free servicing?

Kent service
Interestingly there is no mention or ads to mention this promo at Beadles Sidcup and if their service reception staff know nothing of it other than their marketing people will be handling it then people can make what they wish or try for themselves. I have no axe to grind either way other than a 10 yr or more old disagreement with them over a servicing problem so I just want to make sure nobody thinks this is a personal jibe at Beadles.
They are just too expensive for what was requested and had no idea about their supposed promotions. Would prefer to use them as they are so near.

I hear you and know exactly what you mean. Don't be afraid to make a fuss. I ended up using them as my local dealer tried bending you over everytime you went near them.

Oh the servicing people do know as I spoke to them and booked mine in no problem at all and got the discount, it must be a case of if the face fits
Someone has to pay for my free courtesy car, wash/wax and hoover and free coffee and doughnuts
Don't worry, enjoy the trip to Nene

Kent servicing
There is the possibility that I got it wrong at Beadles because my enquiry was about changing the cam belts and a 105k service but I thought this was the same thing. So if I've done Beadles a misservice I apologise but I did try very hard to get the 20% discount at the reception with much talk of the service and cam belt change but no luck with the discount. Mind you, I am ugly so perhaps the face fitting is a factor!

Cam belt service
Just had my 105k cam belt service done at Nene Overland for under £560 Inc vat plus a free loan car so all in all a brilliant deal compared to local stealer. They also pointed out some things I need to attend to in the future but not immediately. Don't know what they did but the Disco runs so much better so credit due to them. Well worth the 2 hour drive and also managed to visit some clients in the vicinity the same day so a total result I guess.
