Compressor fault or something smaller? |
|
Took car into hunters yesterday for a diagnosis on what seems to be a very popular fault from skimming a few earlier posts...late 2009 disco 3, when trying to lower from standard to access, it will go down then pings, starts going up into off road mode, then further into extended off road, I can over ride by pressing the lever down again and 7/10 times it will go into access mode. Other times it will bong, not ping and say suspension fault, with the amber light coming on, turning car off gets rid of this light. Same light sometimes comes on while driving on normal road, occasionally goes red and don't drive over 30mph warning shows. Other times all special programmes off shows on dash.
Dealership tested and have said compresser fault no more no less and want £1022 to fix!
Sadly our friendly smaller landrover man can't do it as it needs reprogramming etc, and he only has a snap on computer :0/ landrover didn't say a lot other than yep compresser is faulty whereas snap on machine said sensors....
Any advice welcome please

I seem to have a similar problem, when it decides to go into extended mode and you override it is it sitting level? Mine is slightly up on one corner. Brand new compressor 2 weeks ago apparently so shouldn't be that at fault. Could be a sensor issue?

I would be surprised if the root cause of the OP was the compressor. Something is telling the suspension to go I to extended mode which does make compressor work harder. That could cause a fault if the compressor temperature rises - especially if you cycle through different heights in short period. 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

It sounds like the sensors need re calibrated. Pretty sure you'll find someone on here that can do it go you There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.

I had this fault. I put in new filters and desiccant into the dryer but it didn't fix it. Took the reservoir electrovalve apart and found lots of desiccant dust in it. Gave it a good clean and that sorted it. I assume one of the valves was sticking which restricted the flow of air when it was exhausting.
