I'm planning on changing my oil every 5k miles and have just about about reached that point since its last change. I have enough TripleQX 5w30 semi-synthetic from Eurocarparts that I was going to put in my old Volvo V70. Is this good enough or should I go Magnatec. Filters etc will come from Advanced Factors.
MY05 on 112k miles
Thanks

Sorry to be pedantic....Why...?
Take the risk with not quite the right oil & compromise....will whatever cash you save fund repairs or a replacement engine.
Having not the quite right oil may mean the first 30 seconds if engine use every time you use it lubrication to critical parts is or could be compromised.
Conversely when the nine is warmed through & working hard the lubrication isn't ad good as it could be - with same results compromised engine parts.
I've never taken the devil may care approach to engine oils working on the principle that what I do right will be an investment in not having to fix or replace the engine (if it's worth doing to an older vehicle).
I have had vehicles that have provided over 20 years service / 350k miles & engine still not using oil.
My 10 year old Disco dosing use excessive amounts of oil 110k miles..also runs very very well.
Don't take the risk.BREXIT - done properly.

No 'Cam Chains' in the TDV6. Cams are belt driven, both cams are driven with the same belt at the front. There is a rear belt, but that's for the High Pressure Fuel Pump.

Each cylinder head has 2 camshafts, one driven directly by the belt, the other via a chain from the belt driven camshaft.
You ignore serious rattling at your peril, as I found out with a Peugeot 2.0 hdi. Although the timing belt had been changed the chain failed, due to the tensioner shoe wearing out.Simon.

Interesting. I shall switch back to full synth in the spring and see if the rattle comes back.
