Double Locking Tone
Hi to all, new to the site, previous Discovery Sport owner now moved to the big vehicle as of two weeks ago.
Been reading the very useful info and technical matters on this site and look forward to adding my own experiences in due course.
My vehicle is 2016 and although the handbook says that when double locking a tone sounds in addition to the flashing indicators, mine does not and the dealer tells me that this function (the tone) was discontinued two years ago.
Can anyone confirm this or am I being fobbed off?
There is nothing in the settings menu either.

I don't think the double lock tone has ever worked on Discovery of any year. The only tone you hear is the peep when you try and lock it with a door open or the key absent or in the car.
On the other hand, my Jag F Type does a nice little beep to confirm double locking on the second press of the button (or door handle) The Jag seems to use the RRs software (or similar) in a lot of its systems.

I don't think that has ever been standard on a D3 or D4. I am sure I have seen a CCF setting though for 'chirp on double lock' on my D4 when looking though the settings with the IID tool - haven't ever tried to enable it to see if it does anything.

ISTR others have tried to set that using the IID, and the function does nothing on the D4. Perhaps give it a try to confirm?

Thanks for the feedback, have been advised by Land Rover Support that the tone should be operational as indicated in the owners handbook and asked to refer the matter back to the dealer. However they seem unable to help saying that the function does not exist... all good stuff me thinks.
As for the DS, good vehicle but not what I wanted after the Freelander. Might suit some but I liked the space in the Freelander and did not want all the bells and whistles and unnecessary technical bits. Nothing against the vehicle just not my cup of tea.
Two weeks into driving the Big Discovery and I feel at home with the vehicle much as I did with the Freelander. My opinion for what its worth is that Land Rover have made a big error with the current model range and have lost sight of the true customer base. Time will tell.
Anyone who has further information od setting the double locking tone please respond. Like to have the locking confirmed as I walk away from the vehicle without having to watch the lights.
All the best

I've had the tone working on d4's although it does seem random if it's the beep when you lock/unlock or the double beep.
Sometimes it doesn't work, but no rhyme or reason why.Bodsys Brake Bible

I enabled the double beep, can't get it to work on locking but works every time I unlock the car.

Forget the lights, just keep an eye on the mirrors, if they are folded in then the Disco is locked

Had a further message from Land Rover Customer Services confirming that the double locking should produce a confirmation tone as well as flash the indicators.
They suggest speaking to the dealership sales person and asking them to contact LR technical for assistance with this issue.
Watch this space.....
On the further matter of the DS; yes it seems smaller and the tapered roof does limit its usefulness somewhat. Totally back interior did not help either, makes the car feel a little more confined in my opinion. Liked the full glass roof but this did not extend far enough forward to benefit the front occupants.

Not seen the chirp work reliably on any MY and I have not seen it set on delivery on any year of D4.
I have tweaked mine so that the sidelights stay on until locked and that it only requires a single press for superlock. Along with the mirrors folding I now have no doubt that the vehicle is secure!!Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I enabled the chirp using IID. It chirps when unlocking but not when locking - single or double. The exact opposite of what I would like to happen.D1 300Tdi - gone

Hi to everyone, good news, double locking tone now working following attention by dealer and LR technical. Been advised it was disabled?
So at least it is a function on the Discovery, just need it switched on, so I'm happy now.
