I love my new M&S card - 19months 0% on purchases and balance transfers and £30 voucher for using it once
American Express is even better - had loads of offers from them including £125 M&S vouchers at xmas and currently £5 credit for £50 fuel at ESSO.
Agree, AMEX is brilliant. Points mean nice prizes We put all our household and holiday spending on it and because its a charge card we clear the balance off every month. D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

Tesco Credit Card for all the normal monthly stuff - food, diesel etc etc.
Always pay it off in full, always use my points for a free EuroTunnel crossing each summer
Steve
Same here, get "free" Chunnel crossings. Unfortunately that's not going to be as good from end of last month due to some EU ruling or other.

Don't have credit cards other than big purchases, the Disco etc everything is payed up front.
Being a Scotsman every penny is a prisoner. Being charged to take my own money out would brake my heart, though it's not often I pay cash it's all done by the debit card, I've yet to try Apple Pay.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
Credit Cards some years ago with having an overdraft also
I have had an American Express card for at least 35 years....its a Charge Card
It works very well...
whatever you spend has to be paid off in full otherwise you get penalties...
BUT...
you are massively protected on purchases..
Its very secure...
I have a limit set that if we try to buy I get a phone call "instantly" to check all is OK
we get massive travel & PA insurance...that does pay out unlike many others
The concierge service is brilliant in an emergency..
& I get points..currently sat at 420,000
M&S I wouldn't bother...there are better if you look around...BREXIT - done properly.

I agree they do have benefits and if all paid off at the end of the month then there are no penalties.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

AMEX - I really don't care what they charge the retailer to be honest.
The rewards are excellent in either direct credit to your account as in current fuel offers or past offers when you spent £60 at supermarket you got £25 credit back.
Got £125 M&S vouchers at Xmas as well from them which was nice.
You won't be saying that when you've just brimmed your Disco and then find the garage doesn't take it. Ask me how I know
SWMBO owned a shop and refused to take it. Small margins and American Express just don't work well together!!
I'm a debit card person. Being self employed it makes life easier for the accountant, or so SWMBO tells me Discovery 4 HSE

Be prepared to see your points schemes tumble - The PSR's Interchange Fee Regulation comes into force on the 9th of this month. MC and Visa Credit Card interchange income will be capped at 0.3% - You may have already seen your Tesco Clubcard Credit Card points being halved. It greatly affects the economics behind retail rewards schemes.
