Big engine problems ???
Hi all,
I thought I was experiencing the EGR valves problem as when I connected my ECU reader I got the following error:
P045D - Exhaust Gas Recirculation B Control Circuit High
However when the garage called they said they had also pulled off of the ECU the following faults
P0196 - Engine oil temp sensor circuit range
P045D - Exhaust gas recirculation B control circuit
P0199 - Engine oil temp sensor circuit intermittent
P023D - Manifold absolute pressure - turbocharger/supercharger boost sensor
P132B - Turbo/supercharger Boost control A performance
When they have looked into the graphs for the two EGR valves Bank 0 the highest reading is 39% and Bank 1 the highest reading is 19% - so a large difference between the two sides of the car.
Upon reading here and following from what the garage have said is two new turbos and two new EGR valves and then there could be additional stuff wrong as well.
The price they have quoted is about £4500-5000 as the body needs to come off of the chassis to enable them to get to the engine
Any body got any advice??
When I purchased the car it had full dealer service history, the MOT was clear and the emissions were good and I had a full service and CAM belt done on the car, so I am guessing unfortunately I bought a lemon???

are they replacing the same Turbo twice then........?
I would be looking to change the garage if they don't know how many turbos the D3 has.....Bodsys Brake Bible
New engine oil temp sensor.
Blank (with emulators) or replace EGR valves.
Lubricate turbo actuator.

I think the only lemon here is likely to be the dealer

Others would know better - but is this really necessary to change the turbo and EGR valves - or is it less expensive than doing all three with the body in place.
If you are removing the body there are a number of other jobs recommended to be done whilst acces is easy - search the forum for these.
When did you by the car & from whom?
You might be in a position to reject (but quick action may be required), or get the vendor to do the repairs.

The body doesn't need to come off for either - certainly not for EGR valves.
For someone experienced in taking the body off, it is often quicker and easier to replace the turbo that way though. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Lets wait and see if the turbo does indeed need replacing though. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC
