Expedition Roof Rack

Anyone out there know anything about the expedition roof rack?
The accessories brochure states that the smaller 'luggage carrier' has a load limit of 62.5kg but the expedition roof rack is only rated at 54.3kg. Is this a typo? It seems a bit daft that the bigger rack can carry less.
Anyone able to clarify this?
Regards, Dug Question

The roof weight limit is 75kg total. The smaller rack is lighter than the expo rack hence the difference. Wink

In reality you wouldn't want much more than the specified weight in any instance when on the move as this may affect vehicle stability. While stationary you can have more weight i.e. on the expo rack, I can stand on the roof along with a full load so that in total is 175Kgs.

Hope that helps.

I've learnt something today. Thanks DG. Not a very strong roof compared to the Disco 2 is it? I guess removing gutters and reducing mounting options has caused this.
Thanks, Dug Thumbs Up

G'Day Drookit,
I think it has more to do with stability than actual strength. You don't want to go tipping over.
Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room in my D3 for 7,
Climb in here Joe we'll soon be flying,
I can go just as fast with 7.
