Seriously though, my T-Max split charge is there and I plan to move it for the same concerns.

if the airbag goes off it could become a projectile, however regardless of where its mounted i can still become a projectile in an accident

I don't like them there when driving at night. If you are on a narrow country road, your vision gets seriously disturbed by the screen and makes it very hard to define the edge of the road.

I think that there is a risk that it could be dangerous there if the air bag deployed.
I wedge my Tom Tom in the space where the standard Land Rover screen would be if I had one. It is then easy to run the power cable behind the H-shaped trim panel down to a power socket.

I think it will be fine
You've made it this far in your life
The angle that would be fired at will be the least of your problem I would guess
How many stories have you heard where the guy would have died if he had been wearing his seat belt and not thrown clear, so on, blah blah
Life's one big gamble, and yes, reduce your risks to preserve yourself but on this occasion I reckon you'll be fine
Just my opinion though

I don't think that area is covered by the curtain airbags so, you should be fine. I have mine in the center cubby. That's nowhere near the airbags.Freelander SE 2005 Auto.
