disco swap to a twisted defender
hello all
I need a little help I am thinking of changing my 2014 discovery 4 for a twisted 110 defender I don't know if I should or is it a bad idea, the spec am looking at is
2015 110 xs wagon
full sound deadening
automatic conversion
Recaro's in leather
cruise control
suspensions upgrade
that's about it for now, my question is has any one bought a twisted car are they any good. I am a massive defender fan but don't know if I can live with out the amazing discovery4

Friend of mine has just bought a new defender, he says that as they are being discontinued they will shoot up in value next year..!D3 HSE 55 Reg

Best you drive a Defender first.... Think car designed in the 1940's against car designed in the 2000's and you'll get the idea... Defenders are great fun for the first half hour or 20 miles......

yes Bodsy I do need my head examined a lot of people have said that to me, galwaygreen I am going to use it the same way I use my disco my only problem is I do a lot of motorway driving for example I go up to Scotland a lot. nearly 1,000 mile round trip
the main reason I was thinking of changing is reliability and easy maintenance I could probably do 90% of the work on the defender and I thought it would be cheaper to service.
I have read to many 2k + bills and the fact there seams to be a lot of engine failures I don't know if I am being silly or are they a reliable car and I am worrying over nothing because then I can drop this silly defender idea and stick with my lovely discovery.
although to be fare to the disco I have done over 14,000 miles in 8 months and nothing has gone wrong nothing (I am of to huge a tree after that comment)

thank u but just out of curiosity what other ones are there I only really know the more off-road based ones this is the first time a road biased defender has taken my fancyI hate it when people see me at the supermarket and they're like 'Hey, what are you doing here?' Urban truck do some very nice vehicles. I quite like the soft top they do for 40k or so. Will be trying the lotto this week again!

Nice toy for summer days but my D3 wins on every practical issue. Comfort, safety, turning circle, versatility and on and on. I've had three defenders in the past and loved them but the D3 is so much better as a family car and tow vehicle for work. I'd have a defender tomorrow without hesitation - as long as I could keep the D3 as well!

If I was shorter, I'd have a Defender., but in addition to not in place of a D4. Sadly, even when fitted with the extended seat rails, such as the ones from Twisted and Exmoor Trim, I'm still really uncomfortable in the drivers seat of a Defender.
I do a lot of motorway driving and the difference between the D3/4 and a Defender really is "chalk and cheese". I'd advise a long test drive on a motorway.
There's a big, big difference in safety between the two vehicles as well. Something to consider maybe?2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
