How cold?

Just out of curiosity,
How accurate would you say that Land Rover outside temperature gauges are?
The reason I ask is on starting D3 (57 plate ) this morning I noticed it was -5
But on starting SWMBO's Vauxhall Astra ( 11 plate ) it read -3

Yes I know someone will say take the average, but it was just wondering how accurate they are ?
Also where exactly does the temperature get taken from?

Bet that is actually only -10 though.
That's what I want to try and find out, how accurate it is

Thumbs Up

Most electronic temperature sensors have an accuracy of + or - 1°C. So if the Discovery under reads by 1°C and the Astra over reads by 1°C , there's the 2°C discrepancy you are seeing. Local factors can also play a part in the temperature difference displayed.

OK I'm busted, that was a good few years ago as the car was still under that alien concept called manufacturer's warranty. Surprised I can remember that far back. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Over the last few days mine has been reading -38°C from cold and gradually increases to -25°C at which point the reading displays "- - -". Although the reading appears accurate if the ambient temperature is above 5°C. Rolling Eyes
