what other faults can a faulty drivers door lock produce
right then we have a intermittent fault on our 05 discovery 3 2.7 tdv6 that's occurred a couple of months after ive replaced our drivers door latch / lock the old man opens the car as normal to grab something then it wont lock it happens with both keys then he has to put the key in the ignition and cycle it a few times before the engine will turn over and fire up
also I have noticed the transceiver ring/passive ring that lights up round the ignition it wobbly could that be the fault I have had it at a land rover specialist and its doesn't throw any fault codes up for those areas thou and isn't logging the fault with the car not locking or starting
any ideas

Sounds like a sticky microswitch in the ignition barrel. The barrel can be removed and cleaned as a DIY job.
