Steering Angle Sensor
I've just had to have a new steering angle sensor amongst other stuff like ABS pump - good timing just before christmas!!
Anyway issues and lights seem to have gone away which is nice but I had an 'advisory' in that apparently the steering sensor ring is turned by a plastic bush on the upper column - and this is worn giving a small amount of turn in the steering without moving the sensor.
I'm told this bush isn't available separately and it is therefore a whole upper column to fix at loads more money.
Does this sound right?
Has anyone else come across this?
Could I try araldite or something similar to 'join' the bush and the sensor ring?

I had the sensor come totally disconnected due to the column slipping round in the bush. My local dealer welded a pip to the column to make it a tight fit again instead of supplying a new column.

Had this once
Stuffed the inside of the plastic ring with cardboard, and taped the whole lot tight to the column My D3 Build Thread

So is it play between the column and the bush that seems to be the issue?
I'll check with my garage and see where they saw the play was evident. I had just assumed it was between the bush and the sensor, but what you're saying makes a lot of sense.

The plastic collar should be attached to the steering shaft, and as it turns, the collar turns inside the steering angle sensor.
The collar comes loose on the shaft, and gives spurious readings, amd needs re-attached tonthencolumn My D3 Build Thread
