Water running down manual gearbox.
I've done a search but returned nothing, so I thought I'd ask.
Yesterday I did my ARB bushes (what a difference!!). While I was under the car I decided I'd change the front diff and gearbox oils. From diff was easy and gave me a chance to check the condition of the oil that can out and examine the magnoplug.
After the diff I moved onto the gearbox. On removing the under tray, I saw a drip hanging on the drain plug. Thinking that maybe it hadn't been correctly tighten previously I rubbed the drip between my fingers. I was surprised to find it was water. There was also a damp patch running to the top of the box.
Does anyone know where this is coming from. The day was wet so I can only assume it was rainwater. But how did it get onto the top of the gearbox?
Incidentally, changing the box oil has made a massive improvement in gear selection.
