V6 Petrol - Crankshaft Pulley

Good Morning Guys,
Hope you all are well?

I hope you guys can help me?
The crankshaft pulley on my Disco has packed up, the metal 'ring' has come of the rubber part. ( I hope you guys know what I mean? )

Now first of all I would like to know if this is a common problem on the Disco?

The second part is, how the heck do you get the bolt off so that you can remove the pulley?
I have come up with a solution to keep the pulley from turning when trying to loosen the bolt. But the bolt just won't budge?
Even tried wedging the wrench to the frame and turning the motor over, but the wrench either slips off or the bolt won't budge.

Now I have a workshop manual, but this only shows the removal of the pulley using special tools and what not?

Is there a way I can do this without having to get hold of the special tool?

If its just the pulley thats gone why are you removing the crank bolt, the pulley is held on to the crank with six bolts.?..

Unless you mean the the toothed timing belt pulley as this is held on with the bolt. To undo this you need to lock the engine up by removing the starter motor and then just above the stater motor is a hole that you put a locking pin in to stop the crank turning.

The bolt is extremely tight and comes undone in a anticlockwise movement. also be warned there is no key way on the bottom pulley so you need the cam locking pins in and the flywheel locking pin in to make sure the engine is timed correctly.
