But if it's locked out it won't run. You need to get WTT interfacing to analyse faults and reset or at least do proper fuse reset procedure to let it run via car can-bus Thumbs Up

Thanks for the links mark i have seen them but even following all the instruction can't get it to connect.

I have good power going to the FBH and also let the car go to sleep before trying to connect I'm using an ELM 327 to connect like this one

Using this pin out. I have also tried swapping the earth pins around and also both together.

The latest WTT program and drivers for the ELM plug are installed the computer is seeing the ELM 327 and I'm also matching the COM ports up with the WTT program com ports. It just won't connect its driving round the bend I do get one red light on the ELM 327 and when its trying to communicate i get a single flashing yellow light to

Just to check; when you open WTT are you going into 'diagnosis' then 'device selection' and then picking 'W-Bus' from the drop down?

and is the diagnostic lead running off the same battery supply as the FBH?

(the W-bus signal generation depends on being the same voltage supply as that connected to the FBH, as i found out when trying to test run via my spare battery Embarassed )

Thumbs Up

Hi Jake,

Yes mate i have tried using a 12v power supply connected to the disco earth then also tried to just use the disco battery as well.

Im going throughout the options in the WTT software the same way as you have said to and still i just get the dreaded "diagnosis adapter is not connected" in the protocol box I'm wondering if the whole thing is fired or something maybe ill have to strip it down and have a look at its brains to see if there is something obviously wrong. Neutral

Hmm fault finding then, last thing to check is the red wire to FBH plug, is it seated properly? Everything else sounds good so maybe the brains of the FBH is toast Rolling Eyes

Are you sure the ELM device supports the W comms?

I bought a cheap USB device that was for VW - that works fine.

To be honest i haven't a clue if it does. I have the Mongoose cable to so i could give that a go and see if that one works.

Hopefully its something as stupid as that Embarassed

You need an OBD adapter which supports K-line, like the KKL adapter for a VW or the older type BMW ones. They also need to appear to the PC as a COM port.

No idea if the ELM327 supports K-line or appears as a COM port, nor Mongoose.

Thanks Martin,

The ELM cable appears as a com port but ill have to try and find out if it suports K-Line

The Mongoose cable on the other hand won't appear as a com port it has its own name under a car communication name or something like that.

I think we could be getting close to solving this one lol
