Disco 3. Starting problem

My 2007 disco 3 tdi. 2.3 engine has started to turn over more before firing.
It used to start in about 3 seconds and it has built up to around double that. Resulting in a puff of blue smoke from exhaust.
Just being serviced and had new Fuel Filter fitted. Runs ok when it starts and engine is ok no blips .
Any ideas why it is taking longer to fire Sad

Have you checked all the glow plugs are working? The cold weathers here now to find faults with them.......

No, but I have tried turning ignition on and off two or three times before fully turning on. This makes it worse.
How do you check wether the plugs are ok?

If using the glow plugs several times makes it worse, is your battery at fault?

The battery is strong. I think it may be the glow plugs with the weather now colder.
Will pop into garage and have a check on them.
Will give solution when found
