Battery confirmation

Hi

It seems that by reading previous posts most people are happy with the EA1000 Exide Premium Car Battery 017TE. Is that ok for my D3 as I need to get one ordered by tomorrow. Any benefits of ordering a LR replacement rather than the exide?

Cheers
Sean.

That was helpful. I meant an OEM battery. It's a bit like saying LR don't make cars.

I've read that not using an OEM battery has caused problems in the past for some people.

Any useful help appreciated.
Cheers
Sean.

You have read old posts, and discovered many people have used, and are happy with that battery, and yet you ask if it's OK to use? Confused

But Land Rover do design cars?

Sorry if you find my answers unhelpful but I am really confused as to what difference you expect if you buy a battery from a Land Rover dealer. It is the battery that matters not the place of purchase; although you do get a sticker with the Land Rover badge on it, as well as the manufacturer's name. If that is important to you go and buy a battery from a dealer and set aside the advice on here:

The one which you've already read about will be more than adequate for your D3.
This is the one most people are going with, as it represents very good value and very good performance: Exide 017 from Tayna Link

If you'd had a D4 ( which is difficult to tell as you've not updated your profile Rolling Eyes ) then my understanding is you'd need an alternative type but as you've specifically mentioned D3, that link is the one that seems most popular and is the one I've recently fitted to my D3.

Buy with confidence, they're very good. Thumbs Up

Thank you for the help. I was just worried if there were any problems later on with the battery. I.e it's longevity. There have been cases where people have not used OEM and have had issues.

Robbie, just thought you were trying to be smart but no worries and I do appreciate constructive advice.

Will get the exide then.
Cheers

Well thats a nice reply, Not!

If as you claim you have read the posts, you must also have come across numerous posts the contain information provided from the likes of Robbie, whereby one should then have realised quickly that the guy is genuine, and offers his wealth of knowledge and experience for free (as do many others).

I feel an apology was in order to be fair, as Robbie simply stated the LR don't make batteries, ergo - find one that others use with confidence.

Hi

There is one advantage in buying a battery from a Land Rover Dealership is that it comes with a three year warranty and it can be exchanged at any Land rover Dealership in the country.

All you need is to keep the receipt, which I do in my Hand Book.

My thoughts were if it fails when I am at the other end of the country, I would get the AA to take me to the nearest Dealership, and have nothing else to worry about.

Regards

Jonathan

Three year guarantee is nothing special now, especially when the options available offer options to buy a battery with 4, 5 year warranty, Bosch, Tungstone from AF, Enduroline, Varta (4 +5 year), Exide is 4 years etc. Numax is 3 years.

As Robbie stated, LR do not make batteries, they simply get a manufactured one, stick their logo on it and then sting you severley for the privilege.

Guys, to be fair, I think sdfuc was just double checking before spending his hard earned. I dont think he thought for a minute that LR made batteries.
There is a lot of info on this forum, but sometimes it is worth checking in order to ensure you have the most up to date information/views, before proceeding to checkout.
