This topic, is about the early harddisk drive D4 screens in a D3.. only used a few early D4 (and RRS) years.
The later screens are not covered here.. as they do not work on the D3-series (ecu has/needs different can-bus speed)
The camera you are talking about is for the later D4 screen which is effectively only a screen who needs another part, what you call a ECU..

I know it's been a while since someone posted here, but I'm considering this mod myself, as had my D3 since Feb, and want to play after looking at many of the great posts from over the years.
I was looking at the Android carplay type screen upgrade, but thinking of a lower cost option for now.
I've seen this harness for a D4 screen, although it says 2009 - 2016, and wondering if it would be a good idea instead of messing about with making up connectors etc.. as could just modify it to adapt to my existing harness.

Does it look right, as I think it has the USB connection too?
I use my phone for Nav and an Echo auto at the moment for phone, radio.

Tbh, that harness seems rather useless to me…
From memory only one specific plug is “needed” or needs to be made…
