Brake fluid advice needed
I have decided to be brave and have a go at the brakes myself. This has been prompted by a sticking front calliper. I had this happen on a previous land rover and once I had the first calliper replaced, one by one they all suffered the same fate within a few months of each other. This time I have decided I want to remove all 4 callipers and send them off for refurb and then re-fit. I will also do discs and pads all round at same time. Hopefully this will give me no major brake issues to contend with for the foreseeable.
My concern is this: I am ready to remove all callipers but it will be at least a week before I get them back and refit, having experimented last night, my draper brake pipe clamps are not man enough to stop fluid from the flexis continuing to leak out.
I plan to change fluid in the system by bleeding out in traditional way but if I allow the system to self drain for over a week(into appropriate receptacle of course), will I be able to refill and bleed the system the manual/traditional way? or will I cause issues which can only be rectified by a diagnostic tool/computer and a specialist tool? (neither of which I have).

Disco_mikey advised that if you jamb the brake peddle down, it will not leak. Although not sure if that would last for the week.
How much are the refurbs? Advanced Factors do refurbs, so you could order them all and just swap them at the time. Less downtime for you. Just send the old ones back for your surcharge to be refunded.Bodsys Brake Bible

I am leaning towards re-furb as my callipers are pretty ugly and rusty. The company I found fully restore them and paint them(they will all match then - OCD ) and they then come with a 3 year warranty(paint and operation). it was coming out cheaper than replacement/exchange plus I think the exchange units only had 2 year warranty(from memory).
Air in the ABS module is my fear and is beyond my novice mechanical mind to fully understand how that might occur/be avoided.1974 S111 SWB 200di conversion, rag top, bronze green. Known as Munch

You don't really want to let the system drain completely I use these and there perfect,I just had my body off and that was left for a week with no leakage at all
Failing that Pick up some brake pipe unions that screw into your flexi pipe think it's
MALE METRIC SIZE 12MM and get the holes welded up so they act as blanks

I don't suppose you know where I can get any of those clamps, I've done a quick search and all I seem to get back are the plier looking type which I don't find much good for brake pipes.
Cheers

clingfilm on the fluid reservoir under the cap was also a tip to seal the system creating a vacuum to stop leakage (or have i made that up?)

Is it that much cheaper sending them away for refurb?
I bought the refurb units from Advanced factors then sent the old ones back. Sure there's a small premium to pay up front but that's refunded when you send the old ones backMark
