RSE and Ipod Compatibility

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and this is actually my first post here! I recently ordered a new LR4 HSE with Rear Seat Entertainment system and is expecting it to arrive in the next month. I am curious if anyone knows if the system is able to play videos directly from a connected ipod?

Thanks!

The answer is that it depends on the iPod! I've a MY13 and you can plug the iPod into the composite video input in the rear console and it will play on the rear screens. You can,t use the iPod USB connector in the centre console to play video.

if you want to watch iPod video on the RSE, then it has to be controlled by the RSE remote, as you can 't select the input from the main screen.

A point to note is that any Apple device with a Lightning connector wil only output video as HDMI - which the D4 will not accept. If your Aple device has a 30 pin multiplug, then it will output composite video if you have an AV lead, which you can plug into the rear connectors.

Hope that helps 😉

Thanks for the response Dudleydisco!
I was hoping that I would be able to connect my ipod to the usb connector and play the movies directly from there and control it from the main screen.

I'm sorry to tell you that isn't possible. You can play audio and control it from the front screen, but not video.

The best way I've found of using it is to plug the audio and video into the connectors on the rear console, (assuming you have RSE). Then select Limo Mode on the RSE setup screen, and then select the input on the RSE remote. Take control of Cabin Audio on the RSE remote, and then you'll be able to get iPod video on the rear screens, and the audio wil come out of the main speakers.
