Brake Upgrade

Just seeking recommendations for upgrading the brakes on my HSE...

Have read that the v8 upgrade seems a popular choice...can you do the fronts only on this basis and keep standard on rear?...will I notice much difference by just doing fronts for now?

Looking to do caravan towing and not currently happy with the very cheap aftermarket new discs and pads the seller has fitted when I purchased the D3.

I've seen the Advanced Factor kits (think there are two types but not sure whst the difference bewteen the two are except the price)...are these about as good as I can go without paying the high costs of Bremos?

Have also seen some drilled and grooved Terrifirma discs with Ferodo or Mintex or Greenstuff pads....how do these compare to the V8 upgrades I'm wondering?

All guidance welcomed

Cheers

I'm currently running with new V8 upgrades on the front axle only. Only fitted on Thursday, I'm letting them bed in for a few days and I'll do the rears this week. I bought the kits off Steve at AF Factors, good prices and service.

Disco runs and handles fine with just V8 discs up front so I guess you'd be fine running that way for an extended period. I'm sure you'd notice a big improvement compared to the cheap disc/pad set up you currently have.

You'd probably find upgrading just the fronts worthwhile. You can do the rears later anyway.

IIRC the general consensus on drilled/grooved discs was that they weren't worthwhile.

I think Yellowstuff is suggested not Greenstuff if you want to go that way.

I'm very happy with Steve's kits so far. Thumbs Up

Genuine is Ferodo. Wink

Just ordered the V8 Borg & Beck upgrade kit for the front and standard Brembo discs and pads for the rear for now from AF's site.

Now just need to find a good quality independent in the Notts/Derby/Chesterfield area to kindly fit them for me whilst also giving the HSE a good overall health check.

Anybody recommend a good indie in the above area?

Cheers

I have Drilled and grooved disc's on mine.
I have Yellowstuff pads on the front and Ultimate pads on the rear.
Front disc's are britpart performance ones and rears are terrafirma.

I've not had any issues with the Disc's.
I do have Brembo's at the front which allow larger disc's, i have the TDV6 set up at the back.
The rear set up was a kit off ebay for £115 delivered and was labled as a RRS kit as it was cheaper than the D3 kit for the same parts... Confused

I use mine off road and have had 0 issues with this set up.
I'll upgrade to V8 kit at the rear once renewal time comes but the set up is extremely effective in shedding speed either car only or towing. Thumbs Up
