General Grabber GT wear rate

I know the GG GTs haven't been out that long (1 year?), but those of you who've had them fitted for a while - what are they looking like for wear rates? I've had Wintracs and Scorpion ATRs previously on the D3, both of which did about 45K miles before wearing out, which I was really pleased with, but the GG GT price is tempting me! The D4, which I've had a couple of weeks, has Scorpions on at the moment but I'm not a fan of those.

What do you think of the road noise level with General Grabber GT?

Thats my main worry of making the change - I do 90% motorway 10% sand and beaches.

I've just this morning bitten the bullet and ordered 4 new GG GT's from Andy at AJS, had a good chat with him and he suggested that the GT's would be more suited to my driving, mainly road with the odd wet field with the caravan.

Ah yeah, I was looking at the Grabber AT, not GT's - like the look of the AT's.

I am running the Scorpions at the moment and hope for a few more months yet - but like to look at my options (so I know how much I need to save)

I had scorpions prior to the gt's and to be honest I would say the gt's are a little quieter than the pirelli's.
They ride very well and the tyres respond well to direction changes . I would recommend these tyres if your car spends most of its time on road . Thumbs Up

After much research and hand wringing (!) I bit the bullet an replaced the 18" AT's for the newer GT's - and I'm not disappointed, they handle way better on the road, especially in the wet.
And since 90% of my driving is on tarmac, with perhaps the remaining 8% on forest tracks that usually have some amount of hardcore embedded in them, they make sense. I was slightly worried that that the forest tracks posed a danger to the sidewalls (The GT's sidewalls have reinforcements on the outer sidewall), but so far, after 6 months or so all is still well with them. Wear is not really noticeable on the tread.

I would definitely recommend them!

Just fitted the fronts, look quite nice I think. 4 wheel alignment tomorrow. Will get a couple more once the rear Scorpions wear down a bit, which won't take long knowing what they were like on my D3!

They look good Thumbs Up

I remember how well your D3, shod with low tread Zero's, performed on Salisbury Plain. Don't see why the GT's shouldn't cope just as well.

Keenly priced as well. Currently £124.19 delivered, but you'll have to get them fitted. For those who don't live near a General Tire dealer, here's the link:

It was a good day. Freaked myself out when my D3 floated for a second or two in a water filled trench and it went into super extended mode. Thought I'd flooded it Laughing

What was also memorable, was the fact that I had nearly new Goodyear MTR's on and you went everywhere that I did, despite you having knackered Pirelli Scorpion Zero's on. Shows just how superb these vehicles are off road. Plus the fact that an aggressive Mud Terrain tyre will clog up and turn into a slick just as quickly as a road tyre, if the mud is of a certain consistency.

I learnt a lot about my D3 on that day.
