front fog light compatability

Hi I have been looking on the internet sale site at front fog lights, as my disco 3 ones are shabby. And noticed that disco 4 and range rover sport ones are only £25 for a pair. Which are considerably cheaper than the disco 3 ones I've seen. Can anyone tell me if they are compatible.

I am not sure of the genuine D4 ones but I am familiar with the Osram LED DRL/Fog lights which are D4 compatible (and hence a straight swap for the D4).

I fitted the Osrams to my D3. They are not a straight fit so I assume the genuine D4 ones aren't either. The mounting holes won't line up and the light unit is deeper than the D3 ones.

They can be made to fit by drilling new mounting holes in the plastic and either using negative spacers to move the lights back, or shaving 5mm off the fog light bezels to accomodate the light unit.

Electrically they are compatible (i.e. same plug on the back)

When you say they are shabby do you mean they are not clear any more?

I had a broken one which I replaced and realised how bad the other was. Had a look at the broken one and found you can take them a part to clean them. The other side is as good as the new one now.

Ok thanks, will have to remove them and have ago at cleaning them up. They mist up in wet weather, and also have some dirt inside the lens. So guess the seal is worn. Just thought for £25 if they fit I would change them.

No the d4 ones are totally different fittings,
You could modify them a bit but I don't know how easy this would be.

I have a brand new set of d4 ones if you want for £45 plus postage,
Just so I can get rid of them Whistle

Thumbs Up

why are d4 ones so much more expensive? doesn't anyone make a pattern part? mine are in poor condition but the price for new ones is ridiculous.

robo, I think you mean the D3 ones are more expensive

The D3 ones look like they have sand in the bottom of them after a while, but as armalites said take them apart and clean them.
I think it's something to do with the silver coating in them
