Hence why I am thinking that I simply push a connector like the blue one directly into the compressor (instead of the pipe) and connect the pipe to the other end[/quote]

So the collet broke on both connectors?

Yes just these collets, (Thanks for pic) its very weak metal

Ok its brass, that's why they break so easily

It seems the 8mm one is available here http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-NTC9822

There must be some other kind of voss connector which fits chaps ?

Guys don't be bashful, despite that this threat should simply say CUT, rather than dicking around trying to remove, the 10mm and 8mm rear airlines, as there is no 10 mm collet part it seems, I'm not going to sue anyone, just need a solution ? So get your Sunday thinking caps on

Do you know what size bolts I need to replace the corroded ones that attach the compressor bracket to the chassis and the compressor cover to the chassis?

Steve

Compressor to chassis are M8 X 25mm FS108256 (was FS108257L)

Thanks, Steve Thumbs Up

Will just replace with with some A2 stainless ones from Screwfix. Pack of 10 probably same price as 3 x LR mild steel ones!

Sorry richardch, I can't help you with your question. Confused Hope you managed to get it sorted, buddy. Thumbs Up

Not sorted yet but car is drivable without

I can order an a new 8mm, best chance of a 10mm is from an compressor I guess (anyone ?) otherwise I will have to try and use some otherform of straight connector, or steel version of the pic attached

I was just poking around on eBay and stumbled across this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Disco...27e3ffcd95

Seems as though he only has an inlet valve and no exhaust valve, though.

Does this help you?

Unfortunately not, checking again the 10mm pipe slot, the nipple on the 10mm straight plastic connector grips well, lets see I have ordered a 10 to 8mm straight connector and also a 12 to 8 mm straight connector. I will put the 10mm larger pipe over the 8mm straight connector

Just another question, should the compressor only be running when you start the vehicle ??

Sure but should it run all the time or just on start up to fill the tank ?

It will only run when the pressure in the tank drops below a certain threshold. The function of the compressor is merely to maintain a range of pressures in the tank.

Ok so this indeed does work chaps 10mm to 8mm straight plastic connector, the 10mm side goes into the compresser air outlet valve and the black pipe over the 8mm side, all sorted now. I then used a grip tie around the pipe.

For the smaller 8 mm air inlet pipe I took the replacement collet
