Hissy fit

Well my G4 took a hissy fit on Saturday night, we had just had it valeted and getting it ready to go to the Fast Lane show in Corbridge, it just decided to sit down on its a@@e and the dash lit up like a xmas tree. I called Land rover assistance out who really didn't have a clue, he did a hard reset after his computer said it couldn't communicate. Well after the hard reset the car was worse, the doors were locking and unlocking the hazards were flashing and the temperature gauge was reading overheat and the red light was on, oh and the car wouldn't start. The technician then said it needed to go into the garage as he couldn't solve it. I left it an hour and went to try start it and hey presto it started but still had lots of faults.
We took it into Team Valley Land Rover this morning and within half an hour they had found the fault to be a transfer box ECU fault and the ECU needs to be replaced, they checked with Land Rover Warranty and they will cover a gearbox ECU but not a transfer box ECU, its beyond me as to why not cover both you can't have one without the other surely it s so annoying Big Cry [/img]

Did the valeting place wash under the bonnet? Sounds like the transfer case ECU had bee drowned in water.

Pretty common issue, unfortunately...

Agreed, had the same on my first D3 a couple of times.

Solved it by removing the battery, unplugging the big ECU plugs and blowing them out with compressed air, finally a dose of WD40 into the connectors and all was well again.

Still not got the car back, apparently Land Rover had a power cut on Monday so no parts were sent out, so my parts came this morning but now they are having problems with it communicating and apparently the transfer box ECU is situated in the passenger footwell area and not within the engine compartment but it had suffered from water ingress due to condensation and had corroded over time so was just a coincidence it failing after the valet Shocked

Central Junction Box, also known as BCM (Body Control Module) and a fuse box Laughing

Essentially, the "master" ECU of the car.
