They charge you for damage to the armco too...my mate came off his bike and left a "body" shaped dent in a barrier section and when he got out of hospital they had sent him a bill for £3k for "repairs"  21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Here's the current price list from the official website:
Quote:
Base fee for attendance of armco truck: €150
Removing damaged armco: €10/metre (x2 or x3 or x4 for multiple-height sections)
Replacement armco: €31/metre (x2 or x3 for double/triple height)
Removing damaged armco posts: €5.10 each
Replacing armco post: €39 each
Safety car attendance: €82 per 30 mins (car + 2 people)
Circuit closure: €1,350 per hour
Recovery truck: €250 (inc VAT)
Hospital stay & air ambulance: Let's just say, do NOT go there without travel insurance! (Though a European Health Card - which replaced the E111 - may cover the hospital bit.)
Everything except the recovery truck is then subject to 19% VAT.
The record armco bill I'm aware of is €15,000. That was a car that managed to flatten a very impressive length of armco between the Quiddlebacher Hohe bridge and the crest on the approach to Flugplatz. But even a minor bump can turn into a surprisingly expensive day out.

Do owners of racing cars like Porsche GT3's etc (Sabina Shmitts current Nurburgring taxi) run them in equivelent off road circuits, drive them through mud and water and test how well they climb steep gradients on loose surfaces.

In fact i recall seeing some You Tube Vids of a Discovery on the Ring doing rather well, albeit with the tyres squealling for mercy

We are going at the end of next week, using the discovery to get there & then got a swift booked for all day sunday along with an mx-5 & an M5 to use !
