Water Ingress - D4 Rear Lights
Hi, I have a set of D4 rear LED lights on my D3, got them at a very good price indeed from a forum member as I knew they has some water ingress inside.
I’ve stored them in the airing cupboard for a couple of weeks, wiped the inside with tissues etc (Very difficult to do this as lamp holes very small) but with no luck, water is still there and shows inside the lights as condensation (see pic)

has anybody come across this and worked out a way to solve it? Or is it possible to part them, i.e. get inside the cluster, so I can give them a proper dry, before putting them back together and re-sealing them
Any suggestions welcome
EDIT: I wonder if I can gently cook them in the oven and pull them apart, as you would do when doing a front light De-Tango?Iggy/Ieuan

I'd stick them in front of a dehumidifier. Easy to say as I have two.
Hairdryer suggestion is worth a try for sure.
If not, how about getting some of those small silica gel bags, attach them to cotton or fishing line etc. and drop them in through the hole.
Perhaps rice in a small cotton bag would also work.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Entirely happy to refund if you start to lose sleep over them Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:

No, no more than Happy with them mate - just wanted to see best option to remove (I have bigger things to loose sleep over )
Funny enough, SWMBO has noticed the water inside, but not noticed that the are different lights from the ones that came with the Disco
Will try the Hair dryer option on Fri when she's in work Iggy/Ieuan

Hair dryers work really well, take off all electrics from unit wash in bath will warm water with some water wetter additive, this lowers the boiling point of the watering the units, then medium heat blowing through the unit till dry, get a silicone gel pack and drop in the bottom of the unit.
At least you can repeat as it keeps them clear of algie FFRR SC 4.2

You may well find that gently baking them in the oven will dry them out and just forget splitting them apart de-tango style.Black 05 V8SE
