MaxxRaxx.
The bracket bolts on behind the towball or clamps over the swan neck if you have the removeable type. Easy to set up and tow with bikes loaded. Best of all, it hinges down out of the way whilst still loaded with bikes so you can still get into the boot.

Max even called me to check which type of Disco I had to make sure he sold me the right one (premier for a Disco 3 or 4)

Plank of wood, two "fork mounts", 4 self-tapping bolts, two bolts (unsure on size), eta - various washers.
Remove the rearmost two luggage tie down points.
Drill two holes in wood, same distance apart as the luggage tie down points.
Bolt wood to floor, fork mounts to wood, bikes to fork mounts, job jobbed.
Forget the top four, I use the ZX88 really good and you leave the plate fitted to the tow bar all the time,
Only good if you have a fixed tow bar though Goodyear Duratracs

Those Witter ones do look good value, but there were a couple of features I think I only get with the MaxxRaxx. The two main differences as far as I can tell, the maxxraxx hinges, so you can still get into the boot without having to unmount the bikes, and it looks like the witter ones need a long enough crossbar on your bike. The single mounting bar on the maxxraxx means I can carry both my full size mountain bike and the kids bikes which have much shorter crossbars which are quite steeply angled.
Still, it's only an opinion, I love my MR, but it won't suit everyone

I think so too, it's not rough arsed as it sounds, and the bikes are fixed solid.
Just needs the rear of the bike(s) fixing to the other pair of tie downs if your cornering is "enthusiastic".flickr

Hi, the MaxxRaxx is fine but a bit of faffing about, lots of bits and pieces to think about and you'll need the upright extension too probably. I usually carry our 4 bikes on the roof, easy to get at using the tintent step and out of the way when reversing etc.
If I'm taking the kayaks as well as bikes, I use a MaxxRaxx but I have the multi height towbar so no issue with the Alko stabiliser hitch.

I read it as though you don't have a towbar?
If so, I used something like this to take 2 bikes down to the south of France last summer. Did the job, and once I'd got my head round the fact it wasn't going anywhere, it was fit and forget. It was rock solid at motorway speeds too.
