De tango D3
Hi,
I am thinking of doing the de tango on my D3 and going with the silver coated amber bulbs from Ian to complete the look. I was wondering before I started off if anyone had experienced any problems resealing the light unit. Condensation in the lens etc?
Thanks in advance

... mine have been fine. There is plenty of the sealant when you put them back together, but I have seen others say they have put some additional sealant around just to make sure..
Loads have done this mod now I think and I've not seen anyone saying they have had a problem after .. still learning )

Thanks, that's reassuring to hear.
Are there any videos of the process floating around at all just to give me an insight?

I've not seen any videos that have been done, but have a look at this for a start:
If you do a search, you will find loads and loads of threads about doing this mod .. still learning )

Well if it can take that it will cope with anything.
Chatting to a friend at work and they said the silver coated bulbs can be quite dim. Anyone tried the amber LED's for indicators or thoughts on them.

The silver bulbs are indeed dim in a de-tango'd unit, mainly I think because of the design of the reflector, which is intended for use with a diffuser in front of it (the orange bit.)
The hi power (and longer) LED bulbs are far better

Thanks everyone.
Do you need to keep a section of yellow side reflector for any MOT requirements? Notice some have similar to the D4 or is that just cosmetic?
Thanks again

Excellent,
Speedy response as always from a great site. Away with work for a week but think I shall cook a bank holiday headlight if SWMBO will let me have the oven.

When I stripped mine down I kept the yellow side strip and drilled out the marker light hole in the side of the reflector, because I found the second side light bulb holder and fitted a 501 bulb and placed it in the hole.
Now have a yellow side marker light EGR blanked and plumbing removed

Indeed they're very dim at any angle beyond 30 degrees.
I've left my D3 with my indy for some work and for the Maltese equivalent of the MOT with the silver bulbs to check if they comment about the visibility of them... Left the old lamp units (non detangoed) in the back so if it fails my indy can put them on and have it pass. But I do have the hi power LEDs waiting to go in once I get the car back Dennis

9 months in and no problems at all. Just remember to buy the indicators before you do it
