i've got this peculiar problem
my 2007 disco3 v8's alarm intermittently goes off by itself - seems like it happens once a day at my wife's place of work - has not happened whilst the car is at home or anywhere else.
there is a netstar tracking device on the car that is about 3.5 years old - could it be that that is the problem or could it be something else

The alarm on mine has gone off twice for no apparent reason in the short time I've owned it.
This also happened in the car park at work. The only thing I thought it could be is the car faces downhill and on both occasions it was fairly windy with the wind hitting the car head on. I seem to recall reading somewhere a long time ago about this being a reason for some alarms going off and that you should keep the vents in the dash shut.
Since doing this there has been no further problems, apart from the fact I then forget to open the vents again. I need the XF revolving ones!

Usually caused by the bonnet switch. Theory goes that as the aluminium bonnet cools and the moves the catch enough to cut the switch.
However mine did it (and more) and was the ignition switch: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/post1270633.html#1270633 “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
