Could have got the figure he quoted wrong. Said it was normal drain.
Just a thought, given the symptoms of hazards on and doors opening, could it be thinking it has crashed? What does it normally do in crash mode?“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

If the hazards are going without the alarm then we start to think of CANBUS problems too.
Crash mode does send an unlock signal but not locking and unlocking. Repetitive locking and unlocking will also kill the door locks.
It does sound like a bad ECU (IPC, BCM etc) somewhere or bad wiring.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

4 pages of DTCs only relevant one seems to be ignition switch communication. Only ones after clearing was EGRs and head unit communication. (aftermarket streo and blanked EGRs)

They swapped an ignition switch from another vehicle and it sorted the issues. So new switch on order.
Not as bad as it could have been.
Looks like it was not switching off properly and sleeping when key pulled out.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Yep, that would do it as it keeps the CANBUS awake via the EPB line. Putting a voltmeter across fuse 40 would have isolated it; pulling the fuse when left overnight is a temp fix for anyone else reading this.

Just collected it from dealers. Still puts a smile on my face, its like an old comfortable shoe.
Cost a lot less than it could have, part was a lot less than a VCM.
Alto did well to keep the cost down too. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Good to hear you've got a positive result with Robbie's proficient assistance and patience and have had the decency to post the final outcome, not like a lot of posters who seek help and just disappear without giving the outcome It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Yep, good result but I still commend running down the fuses with a DMM as a quick and easy method to see what circuit is drawing power. Just set to mV and probe the contacts. If it shows a voltage drop then the fuse has current running through it. As fuses have a set resistance you can then use a look-up table to determine the actual current in amps.

Thanks guys, next time it goes tits up like that I will be better prepared.
In hindsight I recon if I could have read the fault-codes I would have worked it out,
The only obvious code was a comms failure from ignition switch to BCM.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I have never had much luck in measuring current draw, amps whatever with my simple multimeter. This is probably down to not knowing actually what to do.
I like the look of the clamp. Can you recommend one? and/or point to any resources that tell me what I should be doing.
Cheers

CC - I keep meaning to write a simple how-to guide for the D3/D4, so perhaps I should actually do it(!).
Most DC amp clamps are either very expensive or useless. The DiLog one in the picture earlier was the only affordable DC clamp that I could find that had a 1 mV resolution - it costs around £70. I do have a cheap 10mV resolution combined voltmeter/clamp that sits in my car toolbag (Tecpel) for roadside use though. You can also buy DC clamps that attach to a regular DMM too; I have a Hantek for this that I got for free.
I'm not sure there is a perfect clamp but on balance I think I like my DiLog the best for D3/D4 use, but for those used to a £200+ DC clamp it can be a little fickle.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
