I suspected so...

Apart that the guy is to be commended for his work and wish to share things, work that helped me a lot for my implementation for which I am truly grateful, his simulator is not "simulating" all things like the real thing.
He used as a template some FBH that's used on Volkswagen cars and the firmware there differs a little.
For example the init sequence on those FBHs and his simulator is based on 50ms wakeup pulses.
In the beginning I was also using 50ms wakeup and wondered why it wont work...
The TTV on Freelander and Disco is using 25ms wakeup pulses.
As soon as I've reduced the pulses to 25ms, all was OK.

To be honest, nothing compares with the real deal... Very Happy
Good luck with the implementation!

Yes I did consider that was the reason the pulses were faster. Anyway I am back at the board design as I feel happier with opto-isolated inputs.

It's a wonder that someone hasn't started a kick-starter for an automotive development board with onboard kbus, CAN, DC-DC converter, level shifting and isolation.

Cheers,
Al

I agree with Alex, use the real thing. When I did mine (based on MSP430), I had a non-working FBH next to my desk. Non-working means, it did not fire up properly in the car, but the electronic in the FBH was working.

I did not have with it the fuel pump or the water pump, just the FBH. It was connected to 12V, and put a LED (with resistor) to the fuel pump pins, thus when I primed the pump, I could see that the LED was switched on instead of the pump. Of course the uC board was connected to W-bus of the FBH.

Aaaa... The good old MSP430 core... What memories it brings to my mind... Very Happy

Maybe we should ask a moderator to move the topic, or part of it (for example from albal's post from March 5), on a different section, like technical?...
