alex_pescaru, the remote on it's own costs well over £10
Narpy, I was referring to my basic design.
You forgot that in that case you can use the car's remote, the programmable button set for lights ?
So the costs are indeed under 10 pounds, the cost of components and they do stack up...

Counting of pounds doesn't make sense. By me, possibility to run FBH with awaked car, interlock clearing and remote start is worth much more than 60 pounds for simple timer, which real price should be about 10 pounds...

Ah, so what you're actually saying is "If you have the know-how, the ability to solder, the ability to build a small yet complex circuit and the wherewithal to integrate this into your car, it'll cost under ten quid"
Not everybody has your own technical ability alex_pescaru so it will cost the masses considerably more than yourself.
The final price of this idea will be key to the idea really getting off the ground but I'm sure it will prove very popular if the price is right.Mods:

For sure you have modded your car as seen from your signature.
And for sure some of the mods were made by yourself, as a DIY job, right?
And, at the end, the satisfaction was great, isn't it?
Well, this fits the same profile.
The basic idea and information was given. And it works!
Some will make it from the scratch without help and find this rewarding.
Some will prefer to purchase a building kit - if someone will produce and sell such thing - and assemble it by themselves.
And some will prefer to buy an already built and tested device, again if someone will produce and sell such thing.
Of course the price will increase from the first to the later option, but you'll have the whole range of options, unlike the situation of other products where the only option is the later.
As said a couple of posts above, lets not talk about price here, but talk about how to make such thing by yourself.
If anybody will make an assembly kit or a stand alone product and want to sell it, for sure it will make another thread on that subject.
Congrats to Alex for starting this off and Discostick for next level. Ive done mine using Landrover receiver , fob and Webasto timer. If possible Discostick could you include me for pcb or kit of parts whatevers going. I was about to order a pic16f648 development board off ebay and run Alexs software but now will hold off in case you can spare one to purchase, are you going to release your software, bit anal but I am very interested to see how you implemented your functions. Really good move using temperature for switching. Heater with engine on dream come true. Does diagnostic port use pass though or have you also done work on that as well. Running Pic2 at my end. Are you going to do another run of pcb's? I'm up for a crack at this to run off the LR remote? Have I missed what processor this uses?

Got the PCB's today. Populated one ready for testing at the weekend
No plans to do a run of PCB's yet. I would really have to test it well before i would consider sharing it around
Im doing this because i needed a new project and its been enjoyable seeing it come to life.

It's running on a PIC microcontroller.

Just for info, here's my webasto controller made last year, or at least the bare pcb from it. Mine was made to interface to the telestart remote, but it can also operate from a pushbutton (to do the same as a 1533), and could probably be made to trigger from the lights in the same way as Alex unit does.

I can't remember the exact parts cost, but it was under £15 and I didn't make any particular effort to keep the cost down - it even uses a 32bit micro. I just used parts I had to hand or was familiar with.

This would make a brilliant diy assembly project kit, especially if the PIC was pre - programmed Freelander SE 2005 Auto.

another good solution, although I'm not familiar with the chip you've used, do you read telestart heat on/off then convert resend on/off using either test software commands or covert to aux heater commands. My problem when I got the lr fob and telestart unit was my version of heater is programmed to only to accept aux heating commands and telestart sends park heating commands so I interfaced it through 1533 timer, not my ideal solution due to the waking up problem, really irritating. If its possible for me to recompile your software to use 16f628 I'd like to try this as well as the other two crackin solutions. Just sent off today for some project boards and pics to try out Alexs design, any help to get rid of 1533 timer would be greatly appreciated, TonyBest ever LR110
