It's a long time since I bought oil in small containers, if you are using 6L on an change and have to buy 2 cans you may as well buy a 25L which will give you 3-4 oil changes for probably the cost of 2.

Because I don't normally buy Oil from Supermarkets and so the Wife doesn't come back with the wrong one what colour bottle is it ? Green or white ?

I think that the Castrol GTX was £12 for 4ltr, which is in a white container. The Magnatec (green container) is fully synthetic, whereas the GTX is only semi synthetic.
I think that opinion on the forum is to use fully synthetic. I don't know if anyone runs semi synthetic in theirs.CGA

GTX never done in 5w30 grade unless someone knows different!
Magnatec would be the minimum specification wanted for the D3Paul Redding

As above, fully synthetic 5W 30 A1. Seems like a good price?

I run Semi-synthetic in mine but I do change it at 5K or less. I have a couple of reasons of using it. One is the fact I have a 205L drum of the stuff and it worked out about £1.5L when I bought it. The other is based around the fact that I had a colleague who said they had stopped using Fully Synth in some aero engines as it doesn't absorb the carbons and can leave them in the engine hence why Fully Synth sometimes comes out quite clean.I'm sure someone can give a more informed view on that.

Using the wrong spec oil can lead to premature turbo failure, it makes cheaper oil very expensive. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Oh Ho !
Q the great Oil debate
I've got to be honest and from what little I do know about Oil.......
I wouldn't choose to run Semi Synth over a Synthetic in a modern engine.
I generally only use Mobil 1 ESP as I ran that in my RS4 and had loads left when I got the D3 it meets all the criteria and is fully SynthOnly dead fish go with the Flow !
