Hi Mark,

Nice pictures but they appear a bit dark. Is that on purpose or were you not paying attention? Laughing

Cheers Thumbs Up It is how they are meant to be, it sound silly but its is 'natural'! I did not change the exposure when taking the pictures because I did not want to blow anything out. So left it looking natural (a bit dark) Thumbs Up

Did that make any sense? Laughing

You're improving young man, those pics are much better than your earlier offerings.. Thumbs Up

A little advice, take a look at in-fill flash and how it can open up your options. Wink
Also, consider taking shots of quickly moving objects and how they affect your settings as I'm sure you'll benefit. Photography is a learning curve based around experience, the more experience you have, the more times you'll get it right. Still shots are mostly all about lighting and are easy, moving stuff is much harder, but you should learn quicker. Wink

Try anything that moves ( usually from one side or the other ), so you have to pan your camera and burst your shots. Wink

My son uses a Nikon D2X, he specialises in aviation photography so he has to "move". His camera bursts at 8 shots per sec and he's still not always going to get the shot. Wink
Vary what you take, it all helps. Wink

You can do it too young fella, your shots are very good.
Be critical on what you take but don't beat yourself to death. Get it sharp and you're almost there. Wink

Hi Mark,

Your explanation certainly makes sense. First of all, you and only you are the judge of your own work when it comes down to 'is the image what I want it to be'.

The second picture is too dark to my taste but the blackness gives it a little bit of a mistifying effect. Nevertheless, I would like some detail in the black. Pure black and pure white in an image should be used with caution. As the object wass still, you could have taken two or three shots and make a subtle hdr.

Other than that, I'm distracted by the horizon in the first image which is sloping. It does not look like intentional..

You are on the way man, keep practising and let my comments only be pointers to form an opinion on your own work rather than discouragement.

Regards,

Wiljo
