brake pad sensor censored!!!! |
|
just done a pad change including a new sensor cable (the old one was knacked!). Whilst Bodsy's brake guide is excellent and I did manage to get the connector attached behind the wheel arch cover after a bit of hassle the light's still on!!!....
I employed a midget gynaecologist to ensure the connection was ok (fairly sure I felt it 'click' home) and as the light reacts to brake application whilst driving my 'logic' suggests the problem is at the pad end. however the cable is an aftermarket one so maybe.......
any ideas? before I replace it with the old cable shorted to kill the light

Could possibly be your rear sensor at fault, however I would be looking at the connector on the new one to see if one of the tiny pins has snapped or has bent back whilst fitting Paul Redding

The wire closes the circuit so it needs to be fitted. If you bridge the pins at the connector (vehicle side) and the lights stays on then you know the problem is elsewhere. If it goes out then the problem is in the sensor. Paul Redding

turns out the rears needed changing too!!!!
coincidental that both sensors wore through within days of each other, thanks again to Bodsey's brake guide the whole thing was a walk in the park and thanks to Eurocarparts didn't cost an arm and a leg!

Hello,
Is it neccessary to go to the dealer for RESETTING the brake sensor light on the dash and infodisplay 'check brake pads' after assembling a new sensor?
Or will the message dissappear once the work is done???
Regards,
Glenn

Resurrection of an old thread ish.
I've temporarily hot wired my rear brake pad senor can they be left like this permanently or do I really have to replace them, as I'm getting fed up of replacing them ? Just remember:-
