Idea Before you start the job, make sure you have a hooked tool for releasing the steering wheel airbag-if you do not have one PM me and I can send you a sketch of the dimensions to make one from a wire coat hanger. Other than that it's just normal tools sockets, Torx bits etc.
Calibration of the sensor with diagnostics takes less than 5 minutes.

Read the angle sensor position with the wheels straight ahead again and see if it's still zero degrees.
Did you read and clear all faults with your diagnostics after you had reassembled everything and double check the position of the SAS ?

Hi, yeah i cleared the faults, I didn't move the angle sensor due to bought a complete column ect. scanned it after fitting then calibrated, live date on steering sensor read parameters say something like 780 to -780. I set it at 0 then re-calibrate steering angle sensor.
Scanned after lights came on these are what faults comes up

U0416-94 (History) Invalid data from vehicle dynamics control module.
U0416-86 (Temp) Invalid data from vehicle dyn Con Mod
C1B00-64 (History) Steering angle sensor
B1B50-01 (Perm) Left rear inner sensor This is the parking sensor been like it for a few months (wife i think).
Thanks for helping mate as a bit stuck

What type of steering column do you have ?- Electrical with servo driven adjustment and memory or the mechanical type ?
The plastic sensor ring glued now to the splined shaft should have a minute clearance between the face of it and the face of the sensor, say around .025" (Thou). The readings given, 700 odd are way out. Drive the car in a dead straight line then take the readings again. If the reading is not zero redo the calibration and double check the reading after the calibration is confirmed as complete-if the reading is zero after the second check it should be ok.
If you have the electronic column, it gets more complicated because the column is coded to the car, there is a Barcode label and the column must be configured with JLR SDD software to the vehicle. The other possibility could be that the sensor itself is faulty, in which case you could try swapping it with the original to discount this.
Good luck Thumbs Up

Yes, a poor battery can cause all sort of electrical problems as can a faulty alternator especially when it decides to send a few pulses of AC current into the system due to a faulty diode pack. However although your battery may be past it's best, from what you say, it still manages to start the car. I have suffered spurious problems caused by a faulty alternator, my battery was new and it was only the flickering of the battery charge light now and again that made me monitor the Alternator output and discover the spurious AC output and replace it which cured the minor problems which did not include the Steering angle sensor losing the plot.
My opinion is, and others may have other ideas, is that:
a) The "Top Hat" plastic ring fitted to the splined steering shaft is not close enough to the sensor unit face.
b) There is an adhesive blob on the face of the sensor
c) The "Top Hat" ring is still loose on the shaft
d) The SAS calibration process has not been completed.
e) The wheels-NOT the steering wheel are not in the straight ahead position prior to calibration
f) In the straight ahead position the default angle should be 0 deg +/- around 5 deg. max. Always double check the SAS angle after recalibration to confirm that the changes have been made. If after driving the car the problem still exists then I would suspect that there may be a problem with the sensor itself if a) to d) are satisfactory.

Maybe you will get further advice from fellow Forum members.
Idea Thumbs Up

Hi , plus 1 to the above

Have also heard u can run a test on the alternator by having the engine at idle , set ur multimeter to VAC then placing the probes onto each battery post
