Battery Reset, what actually happens?

Hi all! Yes does it go back to default settings or to the old battery settings? its a Disco 3 TDV6

2 months back I bought a new battery installed and didnt do anything but all of a sudden I
got messages, warning messages especially regarding Air-suspension etc that I did not have before
changing battery and I just want to know if I should have installed and reset the battery?

also if there is any difference in a "hard reset" or using a Diagnostic-tool fr a reset!

thanks very much for any help!

You don't need to do anything when fitting a new battery, you likely just have new issues.
Hard reset will reset some settings but not all, can clear some basic faults.

Thanks a lot! I take it a Hard-reset is basically the same as resetting with the Diagnostic-tool??

When you use a tool like the GAP IID tool, there is a Service routine for a battery reset for both the primary and auxiliary battery (where fitted).

This routine is used to tell the car it has a new battery so there is a data reset for things like the number of days since, total miles since, and of course all fault codes are cleared too.

As mentioned above, if you are getting new and sometimes random fault codes or errors this can signify battery issues in itself.

Check the terminals are tight on the battery, check the standing cold voltage and charging rate and check faults presented.

Thats only for the the BMS in a 3.0 D4, does nothing on a D3.

I trickle charge the battery so it is always with full power! I dont have the GapII, I lost it somehow but I can borrow an icarsoft LR 3.0 and that one has a command of " reset Battery" my friend used it on his car!

No point, you dont have anything to reset - no BMS on a D3 or 2.7 D4.

Ref batteries I found fitting a battery monitor very handy called a BM2 , which will show u via an iPhone bluetooth app

Also handy as it will show u crank VDC , enclosed a screenshot of the single or multi battery app , and link, for the D4 with dual batteries handy to have one fitted to each battery

Hope that’s useful
