How does it worrk
So folks - when my FBH is sorted via the Autel unit, does the FBH come on when you start the engine? When a remote is fitted, does it just start on its own and do it's thing?
the fbh comes on automatically under 4deg i think to help warm the car up, with a remote like altox you can set pre determined times to start or just press start on the app, so long as the car is asleap it will fire up but if you unlock the car and wake it upo it will turn offRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

or you can fit a cheap remote kit like this, to turn it on when you get out of bed (and notice its frosty).

But when? Surely it can't just start? what if you are not going out? Sorry, I'm a little confused

After you start the engine, and its below 5C, it will "fire up"

As in unlock to get in and start it? What I don't understand is without a remote, when/how does it start?

The easiest way to look at this is that the FBH doesn't start on its own, only when told to.
Either by remote control, pre-set (by you) times, or when the engine is running and the outside temperature is low enough.
On the D4 if you have turned it on by remote, it will turn off when you put the ignition on, the D3 may be different, but if it's still cold enough outside the car will switch it back on again.

The FBH will come on automatically after you start the car if the outside temp is before 6deg and keep running to help warm the car up, if you have a remote you can tell it to start and it will run for a pre determined time say 30mins, if during this time you unlock the car the FBH will turn off. I always thought it came on when temp was low but you need to have the cabin heater on as well.
I have a remote that works off the third button on key, it works brilliantly and runs for thirty minutes, I use it occasionally during the summer just to make sure it still works.
