FBH works with software but not with car |
|
Hi all - probably a case of naivety - so be gentle with me.
See what I did here.
Summary:
I now have a RRS FBH board in my (cleaned/serviced) heater unit.
It works perfectly with the WTT software, (burns strong & clean) but the car won't start it up (and yes it's very cold outside; yes I've tested the sensor resistances; also done a hard power reset of car).
It won't even attempt a start - I get a "U0166-87" code from the Autel diagnostics (lost communication with auxiliary heater control module) - so thinking it's probably the board swap that caused that.
FYI I don't have remote or timed heating normally available.
What are my options?
Or is it a case of get a remote kit or refit AGAIN with a like-for-like D4 unit?
Thanks in advance

You've fitted what is basically a D3 unit (pre-facelift RRS) to a D4. The D3 and D4 use different CAN bus specifications (29 bit ID for D3, 11 bit ID for D4).
It works with WTT as that is over the WBUS, and not CAN related.
When fitted back in the Disco, you have a mismatch between the CAN IDs, the heater presumably isn't sending out (or listening to) the signals on the correct IDs.
Same applies to pre/post facelift [2010MY] RRS Mk1. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Thanks so much Martin - so I'll be needing a donor D4 board => should i post that in the main FBH thread or in 'wanted'? - (or would both be allowed?)
Cheers
