Does it work.
How can I tell if the FBH is working right on my discovery 3. I get a bit of a paraffin smell but as far as I can tel no difference to cabin getting hotter quicker or can I see a smoke from front passenger side wheel arch. I am guessing the fbh exhaust outlet is u set body at front of wheel arch and is the metal pipe there. I can feel hot air coming from or but cannot see any smoke.
Cheers

If the smoke is coming out and the pipe is hot, the; that’s pretty much it. I believe it just assists the engine in warming the coolant, so the cabin doesn’t just get hot.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

It should only smoke a little as its starts and that it, if it keeps on smoking its needs some tlc, when they are running right they will be blowing red hot air out of the little exhaust pipe with zero smoke.
I notice the car gets to operating temp faster so the cabin gets warmer (if thats the right word!) faster and er thats it.

Thanks all
Definitely red hot air coming from fbh exhaust so think it is working then.
It was very cold this morning when I started and I am pretty certain the gauge seemed to get up quicker so seems good.
