wish there was a 'buying mode' for the IID
I know I am crying at the wrong grave here - I should be talking to GAP themselves, but...
I wish I could read fault codes in any LR with my gap tool, without it requiring a lic transfer (at $$$)
I spent a lot on the tool and I've found it invaluable, but when I am in the market for another used LR3 or 4 - I wish I could just pop in the IID and read all the ECU's for free, to help me decide on the purchase or not
I wouldnt expect to be able to make any changes, like CCF or calibrations etc. But how useful as a buying tool would it be to have read only access to any ECU faults?

Have done D3's and wasn't sure if I could do any other models so tried it on a neighbours Freelander 2 and it worked on that as well

oh my, I thought the default was VIN locked for everything and I'd need a Pro version to read other vehicles

Nope, it's as Sea Raider has said, but beyond "read and clear" you need a licence. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

As Sea Raider says above
Worked on my D4 and Freelander 2 and my daughters Freelander 2 no issues. Locked to the D4 for ccf changes.

I took my non-pro IID tool along to the garage when we bought a used Freelander 2 recently. Popped it in while we had some time to look around the car by ourself and checked it out

I think you will find you can do more than just read codes, like live values, you cannot enter or change a CCF for instance. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Old thread, but thank you for this list gstuart. Gives me hope that I’ll be driving mine home tomorrow without needing an additional VIN license. Mine is needing a transfer case calibration and sounds like NC500’s tool will manage it without needing the extra license and associated faffing about to sort that out.
Edit: re-read the list. Looks like the faffing about will be required
Edit2: does anyone know if this can be achieved on the device and phone or is a computer needed?D4 XS Commercial - MY16 - Corris Grey

Thanks again gstuart.
It’s not a new purchase anymore, I’ve had it most of the year. The rain got in a few weeks back and fried the TCCM, so I replaced that and had been umming and ahhhing over getting it taken somewhere for the required computer tomfoolery.
As soon as I did (turns out they couldn’t do it) I found NC500 who is as local as local gets up here, a 40 minute drive or so, and am meeting him at the garage in the morning. Luckily the garage is in the middle and SWMBO can run me up in the morning on the way to the shop.D4 XS Commercial - MY16 - Corris Grey
