Winch Electrics Troubleshooting?

So with the assistance from BarryG's winch install pics and the instructions that Wex pointed me towards, I installed the LR winch kit. However, It is not working Evil or Very Mad . I managed to find a diagram and install instructions to the DC Contactor that was in the LR kit. http://www.trombetta.com/cm/pdfs/Installin...tactor.pdf Then I have the power wire coming from the solenoid box going to the Contractor and the ground going to the chassis ground (where the battery picks up the ground from). I do not hear any clicking or noise from inside the winch or the RC box. I am at a lost. Any type of help would be appreciated.

IslandJack Your diagram has no power supply to the switch,
so there is no way you can activate the inner coil. Have you wired
yours like this ?

terminal E is connected to the battery and terminal B is connected to the Solenoid box. I have also tried switching them, with no luck.

Umm..yeah. I'll have to call Amex and see how many reward points I have, but for some reason I don't think my wife will be too excited about the idea. Laughing

From E to B? or from E to the RC box? B goes to the RC box.

IslandJack, If I read it correctly, you have a solenoid fitted
between your battery and winch control box. Therefore:
1) Terminals E & B are correct as per diagram, with the LOAD
being the control box.
2) Terminal K is correct, ground ( earth ).
3) Terminal H, I think is where your problem lies.
You will need to pick up a power supply ( call it the battery for now)
run it to one of the switch terminals F, and another wire from the other
switch terminal F back to your solenoid terminal H.
As a quick test, connect terminals E, B & J leave out
terminal H connection as per diagram, take a length
of electrical wire, bare both ends, now place one end on terminal E
( it wont shock you ) and hold it there, then with other end of the wire touch
on terminal H there should be a loud click sound and the solenoid
is working.
If all is OK there then your switch set up is wrong.
Hope this helps.
HAS NOW BEEN CORRECTED Thumbs Up

Sorry Discoeast, didn't you mean touch wire to H, not B ? If you touch B you're just bypassing the contactor; or are you talking about a different solenoid clicking at 'load'? Touching H should activate the contactor solenoid yes?

Oh, and as someone who has learnt the hard way and would prefer others not to have to; when playing the 'shorting wire' game on anything powered by a big battery, please consider using a wire with a fuse in it...it can get chuffin hot very quick with an accidental short of the battery...

Ok. Sorry for the delay, but 2 children and pregnant wife is not conducive to what my wife calls "playing in the garage". So, I connected E to H and I get a loud clicking sound.

Now, where the diagram shows the switch as per LR instructions I have it connected to the green/white wire in the fuse box. Which then goes to two wires in the controller. The wires on the controller are all color matched as per LR instructions, blue to blue, white to white.

So, I am still at a loss.
