There is a company I have come across (www.followus.co.uk) who can track from the sim fitted within the gsm unit. I have spoken to the guy who runs the company who ensures me it will work.
It costs £16 to setup and lasts for 6 months, then top up the same again, so for a total of £32 per year you have a tracking system.
Anyone tried this before? A cheap way of tracking me thinks

I tried GSM tracking services last year. They may have improved since, but back then even in built up areas the highest resolution I saw was 'within 500m'
It was also frustrating the number of reconfirmation messages the services required. If the tracked sim didn't respond appropriately then the tracking would be turned off. A right PITA if you don't actually have a means of reading / responding to SMSs on the device.

Looked into it aswell ...but as Rob says ..it was all the conformation messages that put me off ( taking out the sim to read them on a phone , put it all back together )
Maybee you should speak to them and tell them how your set up works and if any thing can be done to stop the conformation texts  G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
