My SE manual is just over 4 years old, has 40k miles on the clock and is currently running well with a Tesco Finest warranty in place. My bhp, courtesy of its BAS remap, is probably on a par with that of the D4 engine and I'm not complaining about consistently getting close on 30 mpg on (French) motorways which is where the bulk of my annual mileage is done. I'm also more than pleased with its offroad abilities.
When I bought the motor (used) in 2007, I bought it for the long haul. I'm not keen on some of the features I've seen on the D4 so for me my thinking is a bit like my thinking on Windows Vista - a version worth a miss until the next version comes along.Clubs Mantec, Tasmods, LEDS, AT2s on 18s, Maxxis Bighorns on 17s, Remote FBH, BAS. Trying to get rid of my Disco 3 now. Nice of LR after such short time to reduce the worth of my D3 more than necessary . So best time to get rid now. Aim at 4.4l FFRR because the V8 will be soon not allowed anymore. So last chance to hear some decent sound and get then a D5Daniel

Whohooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
Just spoke to my trusty independent dealer to put first dibs on a black/black HSE.
Three years in the darkness with no Discovery and at last something to replace my current cars comes along.
If the D4 lives up to all the claims then LR have addressed most of my reasons for getting shot of my 2004 Disco 3 SE.....except of course that it completely fell to bits in 11,000 miles but that is another story.

Sounds like the D4 will be dumped altogether in 2013 for a lighter arrangement

Just ordered a HSE in Ipania sand and a XS comercial in Stornaway Grey. Told delivery should be September.
2012 or thereabouts for me - unless Yeovil tear my arm off and beat me up with the sticky end.
So could be new Defender, could be Disco5 I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Once one of you rich boys have had enough and are ready to move on to a FFRR TDV8 or similar......until then I am a D3 owner.....and TBH not sure I would want a D4 anyway, time for a change....D4 HSE....Probably, but not quite decided yet.

Wild horses couldn't get me out of my D3 into a D4, I don't pull caravans and the wife doesn't use it for the school run so other than the 3ltr engine nothing appeals!!! guess I'll just keep adding to Tallulah as the money saved on not buying a D4 comes available! off to fit my concealed winch now!!!!!!!!!!! next monthly saving pays for my ali sills from Uncle Ray

I very much doubt if I will be to be honest.
I bought my current D3 for the long haul, provided it stays going & doesn’t fall apart that is.
The RRS will get changed in a few years, but it won’t be for another Land Rover or even a 4x4 I’d say. The D3 will be my Landy for the foreseeable future. What the RRS will get chopped in for I don’t know at this stage, as it’s hopefully couple of years off yet.
I do look forward to seeing the D4 & the new RRS when they arrive at the dealers, sometime in Nov/Dec this year. Of course when I do see them, all the above could change
Then again, two grand a year to tax a D4 or RRS under the new tax rates is a hard pill to swallow, particularly when you can tax a 530D BMW or the like, for a couple of hundred Euro

Unless there are some 3.0 GS's or XS's out there in a year and a half at a good price and on a lease, I doubt I could afford another one
Hoping for some ex-demo or low mileage D4's around the time my LR Finance deal comes to an end
Way too expensive now to buy (running costs are still very good for this class of vehicle IMHO) and don't see the point of not getting a 3.0 engine, and GS spec is very low compared to current XS.

2 wks ago mine had already been set back to 31/12/09 and that was before I requested no 1st-batch extras of DPF or sat-nav. ATO 50% tax break brochure says item must be purchased by 31/12/09 to qualify so I need to hear that its going to arrive earlier.
