Hi Guys,
I won't apologise for being pedantic as I think think that there are two points to make clear:
1. All measurement units in the metric (SI) system are in lowercase, unless they include a persons name. For example: Newton was a person while metre wasn't. Therefore, the units for torque, being Newton metres, are expressed as "Nm",
2. Don't EVER use a torque wrench to undo anything.

Swollen nut syndrome is a well known Disco affliction - caused by dozy-arsed 'professional' tyre fitters' over-enthusiastic use of compressed air-powered wrenches to fit wheel nuts and tighten them to 3 zillion ft lbs of torque
'Professional' tyre fitters don't even know what a torque wrench looks like, let alone know how to use one correctly.
My advice FWIW is, if you think there is the slightest chance you might ever need to take a wheel off in an emergency, check that your wheel nuts are correctly TORQUED to 140 Nm, especially if you've just paid a visit to Krapp-Fit or some such other place as I can guarantee that their 'professionals' will have tightened them to 14000 Nm giving you no chance of shifting them when you really need to. Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

Actually, you make a good point.
Mega, must start with a capital "M" in order to differentiate from "milli".
However, to be pedantic, I don't remember anyone in Oz talking of Mm, rather we use k's of km.
I'm just glad that we broke away from the "Imperial" system of units. How footless is that?
It's funny how we let our government get away with only going metric where it suited them rather than the whole hog.
Just think how up-in-arms folk would be if fuel was still sold by the gallon.

That's why I wanted to have my own torque wrench to tighten my nuts correctly (unfortunately it is also possible for wheel fitters not to tighten them enough, or indeed at all).

Remembering the days of D1 rear left hand wheel nut syndrome when, if the nuts were correctly torqued you almost certainly lost the RLH wheel after a good days driving - happened to me in Botswana and was lucky enough to stop just in time, (with one nut remaining ) AND find all bar one of the nuts that had departed. Since then, my torque wrench is set at 110% ( 125 Nm for the pedantic )
Anybody hear of similar wheel loss problem on D3 to that which plagued the D1 ?

Just to add always back off the torque wrench after use this will help it keep calibration better and if you think its loose try undoing it wiv the landy socket thing from the boot. It always feels loose wiv a long lever (oohh errr)Don’t worry it is supposed to sound like that...honest
