Very Weird Brake Issues!
Hi all, I'm hoping someone can shed light on a problem with my D4, before I go and blow more cash.
A couple of months back my D4 developed a really bad wheel wobble when braking. I put it down to a warped disk (perhaps and enthusiastic stop from a motorway slip road, and then kept the foot on the brake). Anyway, my local independent (Infield 4x4), changed the disks and the problem went away.
I've just travelled back from France and the problem has reoccurred, initially slight and became almost undriveable. I drove to work this morning and, nothing (albeit at a slow speed).
I cannot believe that I have warped another disk!
Anyone have any great suggestions??

I have already had new calipers and suspension arms etc, but no change.
Its driving me mad.

Mine had the same symptoms as per this post.
I found I had scoring on the inside of the discs - presume a stone had caused it.
Perhaps a long shot, but when I recently changed discs and pads. The car developed a brake binding problem and it turned out to be that the brake pad ends were a little too large so they stuck in the caliper. The solution was to grind off a little material from the pads. I guess that the tolerances on the pads were to the upper end of the interval. The pads were aftermarket, not genuine.
Theoretically brake binding like mine could warp a disc. I got lucky and my discs are ok, but they became really hot at the time.

As already said, if the pads are not jamming on the carrier, and the caliper is sliding freely on its pins. It might be worth a look at the mating surface of the disc to the hub! Dirt or other foreign particles here will cause flutter to the disc leading to a hot spot eventually warping the disc. Check too the mating surface of the wheels are clean where they are seated on the disc/hub assy.
Also, old or tired brake hoses can partially degrade/collapse on the inside, restricting the return action of the caliper when the brake is released, again leading to a "hot spot" on the disc.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Now I do have one of those.
But, I cant find anywhere to attach the magnet to that is really stable. I used to attach to a shoch absorber, but they are airbags on the these, so wont stick.

I’ve been plagued by this from when the car was new. I’m on 102000 miles now, and it’s on it’s 5th set of front discs.
The last set had some very wierd marks on the inside face, like radial cracks.
Now I have fitted some Britpart discs and it smooth again, but for how long?
I have a theory that the rubber damper bits on the sliding pins cause the Caliper to bind, and create a hot disc, which burns against the pad when stopped.
This time I lubricated the rubber collars on the pins and they now slide much more easily.
Let’s see what happens, but the D4 is very prone to brake judder.

I had new hubs, LR replaced them under warranty, on my insistence. Still the discs were warping, so I gave up and rejected the vehicle.

Check your rear shoes are not binding, adjusted correctly, moving parts lubricated and moving freely. I have this on my discovery 4 just now and have bought a full new rear end of discs, pads, shoes springs, adjusters the works to replace next week. I have also bought a refurb kit for my offside calliper as I thought this might be an issue. I had an issue with the same side last year and repair was carried out under warranty, disc was badly burnt from overheating. They said it was a clip broken inside, tried the wear and tear route however managed to argue the case.
